Jenison High School Varsity Loses Lead Early in Defeat
Jenison High School Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-10 loss to Portage Central on Thursday. Portage Central scored on a single by R.p. Jaszer in the first inning and a walk by K Bannstrom in the second inning.
Jenison High School Varsity collected 16 hits and Portage Central had 14 in the high-scoring affair
Jenison High School Varsity took an early lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning Emily Siler drove in one run when she singled.
In the bottom of the first inning, Portage Central tied things up at one. Portage Central scored one run when R.p. Jaszer singled with two outs in the first inning.
Portage Central took the lead for good with one run in the second inning. In the second Siler walked K Bannstrom to drive in a run.
Jenison High School Varsity scored four runs in the seventh inning. Jenison High School Varsity’s big inning was driven by a single , a single by Sadie Kaiser, a walk by Brianna Turmell, and a single by Evelyn Blood.
Portage Central scored five runs in the third inning. Portage Central’s big inning was driven by a single by B Fornster, a single by M Vandegeisen, a single by J Muffley, and a single by Bannstrom.
M Ruthveen earned the win for Portage Central. She pitched six and two-thirds innings, surrendering ten runs, 15 hits, striking out two, and walking zero. Siler took the loss for Jenison High School Varsity. She went six innings, giving up 13 runs, 14 hits, and striking out three.
Siler, Toni Freyling, Blood, Addison Hansen, and Kaitlin Johnson each collected multiple hits for Jenison High School Varsity. Hansen, Blood, Freyling, and Siler each collected three hits to lead Jenison High School Varsity.
A Heidtman, Bannstrom, T Camo, and R Cottrel each collected multiple hits for Portage Central. Bannstrom led Portage Central with three runs batted in. She went 2-for-3 on the day.

Jenison High School Varsity Can’t Hold Up Against Portage Central
Thursday was a long day for Jenison High School Varsity, as it fell to Portage Central 10-0.
Portage Central scored four runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Portage Central came thanks to a double , a single by M Cole, and a double by R.p. Jaszer.
A single by Kaitlin Johnson in the second inning was a positive for Jenison High School Varsity.
Jaszer earned the win for Portage Central. She pitched six innings, surrendering zero runs, three hits, striking out three, and walking zero. Johnson took the loss for Jenison High School Varsity. She threw five and two-thirds innings, surrendering ten runs, 14 hits, striking out four, and walking zero.
Emily Mouat, Johnson, and Evelyn Blood all had one hit to lead Jenison High School Varsity. Jenison High School Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Blood had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
Portage Central collected 14 hits. Jaszer, K Bannstrom, Cole, and J Muffley each collected multiple hits for Portage Central. Portage Central was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. R Cottrel had the most chances in the field with seven.

Game Recap

Jenison High School Varsity Grabs Lead in Sixth Inning for Victory Over Kenowa Hills
Jenison High School Varsity defeated Kenowa Hills 10-3 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at three with Jenison High School Varsity batting in the bottom of the sixth when A Wynsma uncorked a wild pitch, scoring one run.
Jenison High School Varsity secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to a double by Emily Nott, a fielder’s choice , a double by Toni Freyling, a single by Emily Siler, and a triple by Kaitlin Johnson.
Kenowa Hills took an early lead in the first inning. L Nguyen singled on a 1-1 count in the first inning, scoring one run.
After Kenowa Hills scored one run in the top of the fourth, Jenison High School Varsity answered with one of their own. Kenowa Hills scored when A Wynsma singled off of Siler, driving in one run. Jenison High School Varsity then answered when there was an error, scoring one run.
Siler earned the win for Jenison High School Varsity. She pitched four innings, allowing one run, four hits, striking out four, and walking zero. Wynsma took the loss for Kenowa Hills. She went five and a third innings, allowing seven runs, eight hits, striking out one, and walking zero.
Johnson started the game for Jenison High School Varsity. She pitched three innings, giving up two runs, five hits, and striking out three.
Jenison High School Varsity had ten hits in the game. Siler, Nott, and Freyling each collected multiple hits for Jenison High School Varsity. Freyling, Siler, and Johnson each drove in two runs to lead Jenison High School Varsity.
Kenowa Hills collected nine hits. Wynsma and Nguyen each collected multiple hits for Kenowa Hills.

Johnson Throws Shutout as Jenison High School Varsity Defeats Kenowa Hills
Kaitlin Johnson didn’t allow a single run as Jenison High School Varsity defeated Kenowa Hills 3-0 on Tuesday. Johnson allowed just four hits and induced a fly out from M Merryman to end the game.
Jenison High School Varsity didn’t take the lead until later in the game. With one out in the sixth inning Kaitlin Johnson drove in one run when she singled.
One bright spot for Kenowa Hills was a single by T Charon in the fifth inning.
Johnson earned the win for Jenison High School Varsity. She went seven innings, giving up zero runs, four hits, striking out six, and walking zero. A Wynsma took the loss for Kenowa Hills. She threw seven innings, giving up three runs, six hits, and striking out one.
Johnson and Emily Nott each drove in one run to lead Jenison High School Varsity. Jenison High School Varsity was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Madelyn Tripp made the most plays with six.
Charon led Kenowa Hills with two hits in three at bats.

Jenison High School Varsity defeated East Kentwood 5-1 on Saturday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at one with Jenison High School Varsity batting in the bottom of the fourth when Emily Kellogg doubled off of A Fitzgerald, driving in two runs.
Jenison High School Varsity took an early lead in the first inning. Kaitlin Johnson singled on a 2-1 count in the first inning, scoring one run.
East Kentwood knotted the game up at one in the top of the third inning. A Smith grounded out, scoring one run.
Jenison High School Varsity took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Toni Freyling singled off of A Fitzgerald, driving in one run.
Emily Siler earned the win for Jenison High School Varsity. She pitched three and two-thirds innings, giving up zero runs, one hit, striking out five, and walking one. Fitzgerald took the loss for East Kentwood. She went five and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs, seven hits, and striking out three.
Kelsey Bobeldyk started the game for Jenison High School Varsity. She pitched two and a third innings, giving up one run, one hit, and striking out four.
Johnson led Jenison High School Varsity with two hits in three at bats.
