Jenison Wildcats Varsity Clinches Lead in Eighth Inning for Victory Over East Kentwood
Jenison took the lead late in the game in a 15-8 victory over East Kentwood on Wednesday. The game was tied at eight with Jenison Wildcats Varsity batting in the top of the eighth when Evelyn Blood singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Both offenses were strong at the plate as Jenison Wildcats Varsity collected 19 hits and East Kentwood 12 in the high-scoring affair. The Wildcats captured the lead in the second inning when Morgan LaCombe singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. East Kentwood knotted the game up at eight in the bottom of the seventh inning. East Kentwood scored four runs in the sixth inning. Kaitlin Johnson got the win for Jenison. She surrendered five runs on nine hits over seven innings, striking out 12 and walking one. LaCombe started the game for the Wildcats. She lasted one inning, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out one and walking zero.
Jenison totaled 19 hits in the game. Kassidi Hill, Blood, LaCombe, Abbi Morse, Megan Strick, and Johnson all managed multiple hits for Jenison. Blood and Hill all had three hits to lead the Wildcats.
