Late Score Costs Jenison Wildcats Varsity Against Portage Central
Thursday’s game against Portage Central was a heartbreaker for Jenison , as they lost the lead late in a 7-1 defeat. The game was tied at one with Portage Central batting in the bottom of the fifth when T Cumo singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. The Wildcats struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Portage Central, giving up seven runs. Jenison knotted the game up at one in the top of the fourth inning, when Katie Seelinger singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Kaitlin Johnson took the loss for Jenison. She went six innings, allowing seven runs on 11 hits, striking out seven and walking one.
Jenison racked up eight hits. Kassidi Hill and Seelinger each managed multiple hits for Jenison. Seelinger and Hill each managed two hits to lead the Wildcats. Jenison was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.
