Jenison Wildcats Nabs Win Over Reeths-Puffer Despite Early 3-Run Inning
Jenison weathered a push by Reeths-Puffer in the fourth inning when the Wildcats coughed up three runs, but Jenison still won 6-4 on Tuesday. Reeths-Puffers big bats were led by B Duffey and M Thompson, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Jenison got on the board in the first inning. Emily Siler singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. After Reeths-Puffer scored one run in the top of the sixth, the Wildcats answered with one of their own. Reeths-Puffer scored when Duffey singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. Jenison then answered when Evelyn Blood singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. The Wildcats pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Morgan LaCombe singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Addison Hansen singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Siler was credited with the victory for Jenison. She went three and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out five and walking one. Kaitlin Johnson started the game for the Wildcats. She surrendered three runs on two hits over three and a third innings, striking out four and walking one. Siler went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Jenison in hits. The Wildcats didn’t commit a single error in the field. Hansen had the most chances in the field with ten.
